_DSC6719MISSISSAUGA (March 14, 2013) – Amanda da Silva, student at Lambton College, received the 2013 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow Award for Central Canada from national charitable organization Enactus Canada and proud sponsor HSBC Bank Canada. The award presentation took place at the 2013 Enactus Canada Regional Exposition on March 11th in Mississauga.

Da Silva is a true entrepreneur. She began the Enactus team at Lambton College and has secured $250,000 in community funding. She also runs her own business, Cakes by Amanda, which helped her win Ontario’s 2012 Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion title.

“At HSBC we believe that the strongest leaders are developed over the long-term,” said Sandra Stuart, Chief Operating Officer, HSBC Bank Canada. “We are very pleased to support Enactus Canada’s exciting program focused on developing and nurturing the talents of Canada’s emerging female leaders.”

The HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow Award is designed to recognize, celebrate and honour female university and college students – on a regional and national level – who exemplify success and inspire their peers, community and country through entrepreneurial leadership.

“I very much appreciate HSBC and Enactus Canada recognizing me in this way,” says Da Silva, “It is important to show support for entrepreneurs and for female leaders, and I am honoured to be considered both of these things.”

Amanda da Silva is one of six regional award winners from across Canada who will travel to the 2013 Enactus Canada National Exposition taking place in Toronto in May in the hopes of being named the national 2013 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow.

The top 50 award applicants from across the country will also be invited to attend the exclusive “HSBC Women’s Leadership Forum” to be held at the 2013 Enactus Canada National Exposition from May 6-8th in Toronto. This annual forum will bring together the top entrepreneurial female leaders of today and tomorrow to dialogue and find solutions to Canada’s social, economic and environmental issues.
