TORONTO, ONTARIO (May 3, 2016): Memorial University of Newfoundland has been named the 2016 TD Entrepreneurship Challenge National Champion by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud supporter TD Bank Group. The national competition took place at the 2016 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Toronto.

Enactus Memorial created a hydroponic system to address the overwhelming need for fresh affordable produce in Newfoundland and Labrador. Through Project Sucseed, Enactus Memorial impacted 134 people by implementing five hydroponic systems in Rigolet, Labrador, and five entrepreneurs are ready to harvest.

The TD Entrepreneurship Challenge is a national competition empowering post-secondary students to develop and deliver projects that teach relevant entrepreneurship skills to aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. The Enactus team from Memorial University of Newfoundland embodied the values of entrepreneurship to win this challenge by changing the lives of people in isolated communities.

The 2016 Enactus Canada National Exposition welcomed 1,500 delegates including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals and top Canadian CEOs supporting entrepreneurial action through competition, recognition and education.
