Enactus Canada Named Entrepreneur a Provincial Champion Because It Just Made Scents

Kevin Cruz Headshot - BCSURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA (February 9, 2015) – Kevin Cruz, owner of ORA Scents and student at Simon Fraser University, has been named British Columbia’s 2015 Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion. Provincial Champions coast to coast were named by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud program supporter, the John Dobson Foundation as part of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition.

Cruz received the title of Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion because of the new dimension his company has added to the smart technology market. ORA Scents is a mobile device company with the world’s first app-enabled scent diffuser, which allows users to create and control scents in real time. In the home lighting and sound system sectors, people can control their environments. ORA uniquely offers this same ability using scent, the sense most closely tied to a person’s mood.

ORA Scents Team1 - BCCruz will showcase his business and personal accomplishments as an entrepreneur at the Enactus Canada Regional Exposition – Western Canada in Calgary on March 13, where he will compete for the title of Regional Champion.

“Kevin has created something truly unique with ORA,” explains Enactus Canada president Nicole Almond. “This entrepreneurial spirit is what built this country and we want to encourage and celebrate this in young leaders across Canada.”

Cruz will compete against three other Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champions from Western Canada for the regional title and the chance to move on to the 2015 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Toronto, Ontario taking place May 11-13. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and take home the John Dobson Cup.
